Political leaders from outside must vacate district by 6 PM of May 8: DC Rajendra

Mysuru: Deputy Commissioner Dr K V Rajendra on Monday issued instructions for political leaders from outside the district, who are not from Mysuru, to vacate two days before the elections on May 10.

Rajendra also the District Election Officer presided over a meeting of hotel owners at his office. 

“During elections , there are possibilities of outsiders coming and distributing money and indulge in electoral malpractices. While allotting rooms, the ID card and the information related to their purpose of visit must be obtained. If they have come for political reasons, they should vacate the district two days before the election, I.e., May 8 at 6 pm. The hotel owners should ensure this. However there is no restrictions for those coming on tour”, said DC.

The posters on the importance of voting should be displayed at hotels. The staff should also he involved in spreading information related to voting as per their conscience. Any complaints related to electoral malpractices can be filed on C-Vigil App. The hotel staff should be granted salaried leave to vote, said DC.

During Dry Days, the liquor sale is prohibited. The violation will be dealt under law.  The CCTV cameras at hotels should be functional round the clock. The footage of 30 days should be preserved, and round the clock power supply must be ensured, further said DC Rajendra.
