POCSO case against seer: Victims undergo medical test

1 min read

Chitradurga: The two minors who were allegedly sexually harassed by the pontiff of Sri Shivamurthy Murugha Sharana of Brihanmath Chitradurga were subjected to medical examination on Sunday.

The victims underwent medical examination at the district hospital.

Earlier in the day, girls were brought to the town amid heavy police security from Mysuru.

Prior to medical test, the police investigating the case recorded their statements, with the procedure lasting four to five hours, in camera. They were later taken to Government Girls Home, where they will be accommodated as a precautionary measure.

On the other hand, attempts are being made to broker truce with K C Basavarajan the former MLA and former administrative officer of the Mutt, who is accused of hatching a conspiracy to defame both the seer and the Mutt, by instigating the girls against the pontiff.

A section of religious heads are learnt to have held a meeting with Basavarajan at an undisclosed location. It is not known what transpired in the meeting, sources said.

It may be mentioned that, acting on the complaint of a district child protection officer in Mysuru, Nazarbad police in that city had booked a case under POCSO against the seer and four others in this regard.
