PM Modi enjoys Bandipur Safari but the big cats give him a miss!

Gundlupet: They say sighting wildlife is a matter of luck and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, perhaps, truly felt that when he reportedly could not sight a tiger during his safari in Bandipur Tiger Reserve, on Sunday. For, sighting a majestic big cat at the Bandipur Tiger Reserve – considered the country’s hotspot for tigers – is considered to be epic of one’s safari in the tiger reserve.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived at Bandipur around 7.35 am and soon after paying homage to forest martyrs, he went on a safari in an open jeep at 7.50 am. He was accompanied by a team of doctors from AIIMS, ADGP Alok Kumar, Deputy Commissioner D S Ramesh, SP Padmini Sahu and other district level officers from forest and health departments. The Modi cavalcade included around nine vehicles.
It is reported that Modi went on a safari for about 22 km in kuchcha roads in the forest. He sighted elephants, deer and other wildlife but unfortunately, no tiger was sighted.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi took to his Twitter handle to share his impressions of his Bandipur visit. He shared a few pictures from his safari and tweeted that “Spent the morning at the scenic Bandipur Tiger Reserve and got a glimpse of India’s widllife, natural beauty and diversity.”

He reached Kekkanahalli check post around 9.50 am and from there he left for Theppakadu elephant camp in Mudumalai Tiger Reserve forest in Tamil Nadu.
