PM lauds Bandipur staff for saving electrocuted elephant

Mysuru: Prime Minister Narendra Modi – on Saturday – appreciated the efforts of Bandipur Tiger Reserve staff for their timely intervention in saving the life of a jumbo that had been electrocuted.

The elephant had come in contact with the barbed wire and was struggling for life at a private land in Baragi village in Omkara range on February 14. Aged 25-30, the female elephant was distressed after electrocution. It was struggling for life. Soon, the Bandipur Tiger Reserve staff including veterinarian Dr Wasim Mirza rushed to the spot and treated the jumbo on the spot. The elephant has been released to the forest and us closely being monitored.

Forest and Environment Minister Bhupendra Yadav shared the video clips of elephant being treated and applauded the efforts of front line workers. Prime Minister Narendra Modi also shared Yadav’s tweet and appreciated the staff efforts in saving jumbo’s life.
