Peeved by ‘fake news’, owner of supermarket chain files police complaint

Mysuru: Following a news that was circulated on social media and later found to be fake, a complaint has been lodged at Kuvempunagar police station.
On April 06, Mohammed proprietor of Loyal World Supermarket chain in the city had received a message and photo on his WhatsApp number.
It had been said that “One of Corona positive tested person in Mysore 2 days back is owner of vegetable shop in Loyal World Kuvempunagara. He had attended Delhi event. And is home was in opposite road Dr Jayaram clinic next road”.
It had been widely circulated on social media and also news channels.
Mohammed had stated in his complaint that, following the news the public coming to supermarket and also the employees were under fear. Moreover nobody associated with the supermarket had been to Jamaat in Delhi. By spreading a false news like this, an environment of fear had been created to prevent people from buying essential materials from the supermarket.
Hence, vexed Mohammed had lodged a complaint with the police requesting them to trace the person who spread the news on social media and take action against them.
