Peek into paradise of birds at Ayodhya Nagar in Mysuru

Mysuru: As the cultural capital Mysuru is in lockdown mode, without any perturbation, the environment around continues to evolve in a more pristine way, attracting young and old alike.

White Throated Kingfisher

The environ looks more serene sans any raucuos sound that once formed the music of the urban lifestyle with the usual hustle and bustle.

Green Bee Eater

The urban forests in most of the parks in the localities have turned into a favourite pastime, with birds of different feathers flocking and roosting, producing a music to soothe one’s ears.

Purple Rumped Sunbird Male

A park in Ayodhya Nagar at Srirampura second stage in the city, is one such paradise of birds of various species. While it takes an avid birder to get into the details, it is suffice a reason even for a fledgling to fall in love with winged attractions instantly.

Red Whiskered Bulbul

Madhushree S, a dietitian is an avid bird watcher who makes time to peek into the world of feathery friends from the balcony of her house, abutting the park. All captured in her lens camera.

What she describes as ‘neighbourhood birds’, she has spotted as many birds like- Asian Koel, White Throated Kingfisher, Ashy Prinia, Spotted Dove, Purple Rumped Sunbird male and female, Mr and Mrs Robin, Mr Pecker, Parakeet, Green Bee Eaters, Silver Finches, Red Vented Bulbuls, Great Coucal, Red Whiskered Bulbul, Black Kite and Munia.

As Madhushree explains “some tiny birds come to collect nectar from the plants in the balcony. They are resident garden birds common near human habitat.”
