Overflowing drainage woes await lasting solution at Vishweshwarnagar industrial suburb

1 min read

Mysuru: Sewage water overflowing from underground drainage (UGD), choking of pipelines, overflowing storm water drain and cracks in pipelines are the commonly heard grievances of the residents of Vishweshwarnagar Industrial suburb in Ward 62 of Mysuru City Corporation (MCC).

The drainage water can be found flowing and standing on the road triggering worries among the locals, who are more concerned of their health amid Covid crises. The situation worsens more during the rainy season near RMV Elegance Apartment.

“The UGD problem exists since decades and it is worsening every year. When we register online, the complaints are attended, but the issue recurs in two-three days,” complained Kumar, a resident.

The roads are also in pathetic condition. With more than five choultries, apartments and several factories in the Industrial Suburb, one can imagine the condition of the roads and the plight of the residents.

When it rains, the potholes turn into a deluge, posing risk for vehicular users and pedestrians.

Locals allege that the officials have turned a blind eye towards not just recurring civic woes, but have refrained from finding a lasting solution for the reasons best known to them.
