Mysuru: Sudhakar S Shetty, former President of Federation of Karnataka Chamber of Commerce and Industries (FKCCI), inaugurated the Swimming Competition held at Manasa Swimming Pool, in the premises of Jnanasarovar International Residential School Mysore (JIRSM).

Shetty said “In today’s competitive era, parents and teachers should focus on bringing up children in an all-round manner. Especially in any competition or any leadership, his world knowledge comes first. Also, today ‘s society has a responsibility to educate children mentally and intellectually, not just making them bookworms. Sports, art and music lead to all round development of man. The Text books only cover subjects that are academically required. Similarly, the way a student behaves, that is, his development is based on his intellectual knowledge.”

If he participates and competes in any one of the competitions, it will be known how that student fits into the society. An example of many leadership today: There may be political leadership, there may be authoritative leadership and all those who have sports leadership have introduced themselves by participating in various sports competitions, art competitions, music competitions, they are leaders, but those who are limited to textbooks have never grown up as leaders.

It is the responsibility of today’s parents and teachers to encourage the students in this country to participate in all the competitions without limiting themselves only to the textbook. Only he who face danger can become a hero. He who is afraid to face danger is not possible to be a leader. Wherever we take risks, there is competition . Wherever there is competition, there is risk. Therefore, we have to train young men and women to be competitors. It is our biggest responsibility, said Shetty.

If we want to bring children out of mobile addiction, we need to work on their mind and their knowledge. How to make them acquire knowledge through competitions. Students competing in today’s swimming competition have a bright future, he said.

Venkatesh, President of Private School Union, who inaugurated the meeting said, today 7 crore people have learned swimming in this world, which itself is a great achievement.

He said that something like swimming will help in bodybuilding competition and gaining intellectual knowledge.
