Bengaluru: Bengaluru will be the centre of focus for two days – July 17 and July 18 – as the IT City will host a mega meet of Opposition parties at a private hotel here on Monday. As many as 24 Opposition parties are expected to take part in the meeting to evolve strategies to take on the Bharatiya Janata Party in the next Lok Sabha election.
According to latest reports, National Congress Party president veteran Sharad Pawar will not attend the day one of the meeting. But he is expected to participate on July 18.
Prominent leaders from at least 20 parties will converge in Bengaluru to deliberate on strategies to defeat BJP in the next Parliamentary elections. These parties have come here to demonstrate their unity – keeping aside any political and ideological differences aside – to take on the Saffron party.
Meanwhile, AICC general secretary K C Venugopal, Jairam Ramesh and Karnataka Congress in-charge Randeep Singh Surjewala were in Bengaluru on Sunday itself, to oversee the preparations. The parties are meeting at Taj West End Hotel on Race Course Road.
The first mega Opposition meeting was held in Patna on June 23 and they had planned to meet next in Shimla. However, due to heavy rain, the venue was shifted to Bengaluru.
