1 min read

Chamarajanagar: Bandipur forest personnel  along with camp elephants Arjuna and Mahendra have launched a combing operation to trace that elusive tiger which has so far  killed 11 cattles.

What has prompted the search operation is a strange question that has hit the forest men. Beginning from June 16 to August 14, the tiger killed 11 cattles in Kundukere range of Bandipur National Tiger Reserve, but abandoned the carcass without even eating the meat leave aside devouring the the flesh.

To find out the exact reasons behind the tiger’s strange behaviour, it’s been decided to trap and radio collar the animal.

Veterinarian Dr Wasim Mirza along with Carter Akram Pasha and Wildlife Institute of India (WII) member Dr Sanath are on the operation.

This follows the recent decision of a technical committee meeting chaired by PCCF on August 12. It was decided to trace and radio collar the big cat to track its movements.
