Mysuru: Operation Tiger successfully ended on Tuesday, with the forest personnel tranquilisng the big cat. The tiger was darted soon after it was spotted near Devalapura Hundi near Sargur.
The tiger aged around nine to 10 years had created panic in Kalasur and Moorband areas bordering villages in Sargur taluk, coming under Bandipur Tiger Reserve.

Recently, camp elephants, Jayaprakash, Ganesh and Partha were also involved in the operation to comb forest area.
According to CCF of project tiger, Bandipur, Balachandra “We were carrying the operation for more than a week and has culminated on a successful note. The tiger was traced and captured without harming anyone. Our experts team are taking care of the animal. It’s a male and aged around nind to 10 years”.

The further decision on shifting the animal will be taken in consultation with Chief Wildlife Warden, he said.
The tiger which is aged is suspected to have strayed out of the forest in search of food. As it cannot hunt at this age, the animal was preying on the cattle and livestock at Hegganur and other villages in Sargur taluk. The worried villagers had complained to forest personnel.

After learning about the operation, the anxious villagers thronged Devalapura Hundi to take a glimpse of the striped animal. The forest personnel found it tough to control the crowd.
Forest veterinarian Dr Nagaraj and other personnel took part in the operation.
