One Nation One Election: A bold move by PM Narendra Modi, lauds Bommai

New Delhi: Former Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai, the MP of Haveri on Friday termed the decision of the Centre on ‘One Nation, One Election’ as a bold move.
Speaking to media persons, Bommai, also appealed to the opposition parties to rise above the party and support the decision of Central Cabinet, which otherwise would be construed as ‘anti-development’ attitude of opposition MPs.
Explaining further, Bommai said with elections to Cooperatives, Gram Panchayats, Assembly and Parliament being conducted in different schedules, spending huge money, they had turned into a stumbling block for the development activities. It was a wise decision by a panel headed by former President of India Ramnath Kovind to recommend for- One Nation One Election.
The Cabinet decision is expected to be taken up for discussion in the Lok Sabha session, said Bommai, crediting Prime Minister Narendra Modi for taking such a bold step.
