Now, taste authentic food products of North Karnataka in Mysuru

Mysuru: Mysuru which is known for its eponymous products right from sweet delicacies to garments, arts and crafts to others, now offers authentic sweet delicacies of North Karnataka on a platter.

Sri Matha Sweets on D Subbaiah road near freedom fighter’s memorial park in the city has varieties of traditional food products of North Karnataka. The Geographical Indicator (GI) tagged and popular food products are also in the list, which are sure to trigger hunger pangs.

It’s the venture of Sridevi Kundangar a native of Belagavi who has made Mysuru her new home, ever since she moved here six to seven years ago. What started on a small scale in her house, catering to the needs of the customers in the know how, has now grown into a small scale business by opening a shop recently. It is with the only intent of reaching a more number of people, who have a taste for new food products.

Sridevi Kundanagar who has a post-graduation in Computer Application also trained many students in Mysuru. Now, she has turned into an entrepreneur, introducing North Karnataka’s lip smacking food products like Belagavi Kunda, Gokak Karadantu, Dharwad Babu Singh Thakur Pedha and Savanur Khara Mixture and Ladaki Laddu, Chutney Powder and Kadak Rotti and the list goes on.

Sridevi told Mysoorunews.com “Mysuru is a tourist destination and it also has a variety of food products from North Karnataka. We planned to introduce North Karnataka’s branded and GI tagged food products to Mysureans, who are known to try their hands on new things. These products are healthy and nutritious because they are made up of dry fruits, organic jaggery and pure ghee. It is beneficial in aiding children’s growth, lactating women and also for diabetics as it is less of sugar content and totally devoid of chemical free items”, Sridevi Kundanagar claimed.
