Mysuru: Adding grist to the allegatlions levelled by former minister and MLA Sa Ra Mahesh over the number of total deaths occurred due to Covid-19 in May, Mysuru- Kodagu MP Prathap Simha also expressed his doubts over the numbers provided by the district administration.

Simha who visited K R Hospital premises on Tuesday to inspect the place identified by NHAI to install 1000 LPM capacity oxygen plant, said “I also had doubts regarding the death cases. We had provided ICU beds and many died as they were unable to get ICU. But the numbers of deaths on record was very less,” Simha claimed.

Earlier we didn’t ask for details of accounts related to Covid-19 expenditures. Now, we are asking as there is a lack of transparency in administration, he said.

He also criticised Deputy Commissioner Rohini Sindhuri for releasing the expenditure list.

“We don’t need a round figure statistics. But, where is the swimming pool related expenditure details? Give accounts of step down hospitals, Simha questioned.

On Monday, Sa Ra Mahesh had released a detail record related to exact number of deaths occurred in May, accusing the district administration of fudging actual number of deaths.

According to Mahesh, a total of 969 people died from May 1 to 29, but Covid War Room data puts total deaths at 238.
