Bengaluru: It has been four days since Lokayukta officials arrested MLA Madal Virupakshappa’s son Prashanth, while accepting a bribe. Yet, there is no trace of MLA Virupakshappa, who has been named prime accused in the case. Prashanth was trapped while accepting a bribe of Rs 40 lakh to award tender for procurement of raw materials for Karnataka Soaps and Detergents Ltd (KSDL) of which MLA Virupakshappa was the chairman, till he quit the post a day after the bribe case.

The Lokayukta police had also recovered Rs 1.62 cr unaccounted cash from Prashanth’s private office and Rs 6.10 cr was recovered from MLA’s residence. The Lokayukta investigating team has also found that Rs 94 lakh has been transferred to Prashanth’s account. The police are expected to file a charge sheet with regard to the case on Monday.

Following his arrest, the Lokayukta police searched Prashanth’s house and also raided MLA’s house in Madal in Davangere district. Ever since then, MLA Virupakshappa is absconding and the Lokayukta police are searching for him in Bengaluru, Davangere and other places.

A team of seven deputy superintendent of police has been formed to trace MLA, who is absconding with his elder son Mallikarjun.
