Bengaluru: Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa submitted his resignation to Governor Thawar Chand Gehlot at Raj Bhavan on Monday.
Yediyurappa told media persons outside Raj Bhavan ” I had decided to quit two months ago itself. I have submitted resignation and Governor has accepted it. I am grateful to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah and BJP National President J P Nadda for giving me an opportunity to work as a chief minister for two more years. ”
On his successor, Yediyurappa said ” I haven’t recommended any names. It’s the prerogative of the high command.”
Yediyurappa also clarified that he quit on his own and was not under pressure from anybody. As I am 75-year-old I have quit as per the party’s diktat.
” I have not sought any posts further, but will work towards strengthening the party. I will give all cooperation to the next chief minister,” CM added.
