Children orphaned due to Covid-19 pandemic to be considered for admission to KVs under PM Cares for Children Scheme

New Delhi: In a move that will leave many unhappy, the central government has scrapped Member of Parliament (MP) quota for admissions to Kendriya Vidyalayas (KV).

This follows the recent move of Kendriya Vidyalaya Sanghathan (KVS) to put on hold all the quotas including those of MPs.

The admission process at KVs for the year 2022-23 is open till June and KVS has revised the guidelines.

Instead, the centre has decided to consider those children orphaned due to Covid-19 pandemic for admission to KVs under PM Cares for Children Scheme.

The district magistrates will be relegated with powers to prepare a list of 10 such children per school for admission.

Under MP quota too, the said elected representatives had provisions to recommend 10 children to KV.
