Mysuru: Following the Central government’s rejection to Karnataka’s tableau idea to take part in R-Day Parade, Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai said that the government was still hopeful to get a chance to showcase Karnataka’s treasure at the celebrated R-Day Parade. For the past 13 consecutive years, Karnataka has been showcasing its rich cultural heritage at the parade and a couple of times, it has won awards, too.
The Karnataka government had sent three ideas that included themes on women empowerment and millets for the upcoming R-Day parade. However, at the final stage, tableaux from Tamil Nadu and Kerala have been selected over Karnataka.
This has upset the government and the officials were quick to react that they will do everything possible to convince the Centre to give them a chance.
Kannada Sahitya Praishat president Dr Mahesh Joshi too said in Haveri that if need be a delegation of ministers will be taken to Delhi to air their grievance. He was hopeful of getting a chance to participate in the R-Day parade.
