No Kannadigas among those died in tragic train accident at Balasore: Minister Lad

Bengaluru: No one from Karnataka among those died in the horrific three-train tragedy at Balasore, Odisha, stated Labour Minister Santhosh Lad, who was deputed on behalf of the State government to monitor rescue operations.
In a press statement issued by Minister Lad on Sunday, he said that the team from Karnataka had visited the tragic site and also five hospitals in Balasore and Bhadrak districts where the injured are being treated. The bodies of those died in the accident have also been kept in these hospitals. The team has found no one from Karnataka among those dead or injured in the tragedy.
“We have held a meeting with the Odisha government Chief Secretary in this regard. We have also conveyed Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s message that the Karnataka government is ready to offer any help,” he said in the statement.
The team that went with the minister Lad included State Disaster Management Authority Commissioner Manoj Rajan, Spokesperson Anil Kumar Tadkal, Revenue Department’s Disaster Management Division’s S S M Gavaskar and Siddanagowda returned to Bengaluru from Balasore on Sunday.
Meanwhile, latest reports said that a labourer from West Bengal who was working at a hotel in Bengaluru has died in the accident.
The official figures in the three-train tragedy put at 288 and nearly 1,000 injured.
