Mysuru: Deputy Commissioner Dr K V Rajendra also the district electoral officer on Wednesday clarified that ‘no eligible voters have been deliberately omitted from the list. Hence there is no need for the representatives of political parties, leaders and general public to be confused’.

Chairing a meeting of the representatives of various political parties convened at his office, deputy commissioner said ” the revision of voters list is a continuous process. Booth level officers (BLO) visit door to door and verify the voters list. As per the directions of Election Commission of India (ECI) the process of omitting the voters in the case of repetitons is underway, within the ambit of law. Form-7 is obtained in such cases and spot inspection followed by the inspection by booth level officers is conducted before removing the voters. It is a transparent process”.

However this time, the voters list with similar photographs and details are found. Such cases were verified and dropped from the list. Hence the number of such voters removed from the draft voters list this time is more, clarified DC.  The cases of death, transfer, repetition, similar photographs and details will be verified.

Accordingly in the 11 Assembly constituencies in Mysuru district- 20,440 voters are removed in the cases of death, 16,933 voters due to shift in place, 2227 voters due to repetition and 80,930 voters due to similar photographs totalling 120786 voters have been removed from draft voters list, explained DC.

If the eligible voters are dropped from the list, the booth level agents of political parties can give the required information to either booth level officers, AROs, tahsildar or myself. If there is any deliberate attempt to remove the voters, suitable action will be taken against the officials after conducting a probe, assured DC.

If the names of voters are shifted to other booths, it can be rectified by submitting Form-8. While Form-6 can be submitted for the inclusion of names. The applications can also be submitted online through voter helpline App, added DC.

Regarding EVMs the DC said “It’s not only Mysuru  district, new EVMs are being supplied to every district on the directions of election Commission. Likewise the EVMs are supplied to Mysuru district. There is no need for unnecessary confusion. In case of any query, either election wing, additional DC or myself can be contacted anytime, said DC.

Additional DC B S Manjunatha Swamy said “there were 1,73,943 cases of similar photos of voters. They were verified and 80,930 such voters were removed from the list”.
