Nine villages may go under water in Kollegal

Chamarajanagar: Cauvery river continues to flow at dangerous level and nine villages in Kollegal taluk may be inundated, fear the villagers living on the banks of the river.

Dasanapura will be the first village that will be affected and the district administration is taking measures to shift the villagers to a safer location.

Deputy Commissioner B B Kaveri visted Dasanapura, Hale Hampapura and Mullur and inspected the situation in place and directed the officials to take precautionary measures.

A gruel centre is already opened at the pre- matric boys hostel of BCM department in Kollegal.

During the previous year too,  similar situation had arised and the villagers living on the banks had to incur huge losses, as a huge area of agricultural fields was also destroyed due to floods.
