Bengaluru: “My son has faced defeat for the third time. While he has lost only in the elections, his humanity and compassion remain undefeated,” said Anita Kumaraswamy, in a heartfelt post shared on the social media platform X, following the announcement of the results of the Channapatna constituency by-election.

This is the first time,  Anita Kumaraswamy, a former MLA has shared her emotions publicly since the results, and her post reads:

“My son, Nikhil Kumaraswamy, has been defeated in the Channapatna Assembly constituency by-election, and I accept it. In an electoral system, victories and defeats are part of the process. For someone to win, another must inevitably lose. However, there are numerous reasons behind any loss, and it is not my intention to discuss those reasons here.”

“In politics, be it for me, my husband, or my revered father-in-law, victories and defeats are nothing new. We have always accepted both with equanimity. We have neither celebrated victories excessively nor been disheartened by defeats. We have never resorted to criticizing others out of frustration over a loss. The same applies to my son as well.”

“I do not need to tell the people of this state much about my son. He is a good son, a loving husband, and a devoted father. Before entering politics, he was an accomplished actor. My husband and I are proud to have such a wonderful son.”

“As a mother, I have celebrated his successes and shed tears during his struggles. My bond with my child is filled with immense love and compassion, which I am sure every mother can relate to.”

“My son has faced defeat for the third time. But he has only lost in elections—not as a human being. His humanity, kindness, and generosity remain intact. As a mother, I know his heart and mind better than anyone else.”

“I have always had unwavering faith in God. I believe that my son has divine grace and the blessings of the people of Channapatna. If not today, tomorrow, he will certainly get another opportunity to serve the people. This is my firm belief,” Anita Kumaraswamy stated.
