Nikhil Kumaraswamy meets family of JDS worker who made suicide bid

Bidadi: Following the Channapatna Assembly by-poll results, where JDS Youth President Nikhil Kumaraswamy faced a humiliating defeat, a devoted supporter of the JDS attempted suicide.
On Sunday, Nikhil visited the supporter’s residence of the party worker Manjunath, to console the family and instill confidence in them.
Manjunath, a staunch follower of Nikhil Kumaraswamy, attempted suicide on Saturday after the election results were announced.
During his visit, Nikhil interacted with Manjunath’s family and urged them to face both victories and defeats with equanimity.
Nikhil also appealed to his supporters and party workers, emphasising that extreme steps should be avoided as they bring unnecessary trouble to families.
“HD Deve Gowda is not in politics for power but for the people. Many are talking about his retirement, but that decision lies with the people. Although we lost in Channapatna, our party workers put in a great effort. However, we must rethink our approach, especially since the minority voters lacked confidence in us. We will address this in the days to come,” Nikhil Kumaraswamy stated.
