Mysuru: National Institute of Engineering (NIE) conducted a vaccination drive to inoculate its students and faculty members on Monday.

Mysuru-Kodagu MP Pratap Simha launched the vaccination drive organised at Diamond jubilee Sports complex of the Institute on Manandavadi road.

Pratap Simha said “Since the pandemic started it has affected the students majorly. Most of the students were unable to prepare and perform well in the examinations as there were no offline classes to benefit them. We are trying to get students back to offline classes by vaccinating each one of them. This can end the issues that students faced during the last academic year. Mysuru district administration is working towards providing free vaccination to all its citizens.”

The vaccines are completely safe and there is no risk in taking the vaccines and everyone should take it without fear, appealed Simha.

Addressing the gathering Principal Dr N V Raghavendra said “It is our top most priority to ensure the safety of the students and the faculty. As government has ordered that only the students who are vaccinated will be allowed to attend the examinations, it is our major goal to provide vaccinations to all the students as early as possible.”

Many students and faculty members utilised this opportunity to get themselves vaccinated.

The drive was conducted under the vigilance of the NIE administration with covid safety precautions. The decision to vaccinate the students was taken as a measure to protect them from a possible third wave, in view of the new Delta plus strain of the virus.

The college management in addition to sponsoring the vaccination drive, also has been constantly spreading awareness about Covid-19 among its students. The institution is aiming to provide maximum vaccines to all the students in the coming days.
