Bengaluru: Chairman of State Legislative Council Basavaraj Horatti on Friday urged the additional chief secretary to the government also the chairman of new pension scheme changes committee, Karnataka Government to rectify the order related to the implementation of New Pension Scheme, as the staff of aided educational institutions recruited after April 01, 2006 are left in a lurch.

Following the directions of the government to the management of educational institutions to implement the new pension scheme by paying its part of instalment of beneficiary staff on its own towards the scheme, the staff recruited at aided institutions from April 01, 2006 are deprived of the benefit.

Earlier to that, the government was implementing the pension scheme irrespective of government or aided staff, without discriminating in pay and pension. However, the latest order is anti- constitutional in nature.

Hence, the order should be rectified and measures should be taken by the government to pay instalments of the staff of aided educational institutions on its own. If legally verified there are chances of government finding itself in an embarassing situation, Horatti warned.

In the order dated March 2006 effective from January 19, 2010, the government was deducting 10 per cent of the instalment from employees salary and was adding its equal share. Later, the government’s share of instalment was increased to 14 per cent.

Horatti has also reminded the committee that even after three years of its formation, in December 2018, no report has been submitted to the government.
