“New INDIA” rises to counter Modi’s Bharat

Bengaluru: The IT city – Bengaluru – witnessed a new alliance of like-minded parties that has renamed itself into INDIA (Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance) and has vowed to take on the “idea of the BJP and the idea of India”.
On the second day of Opposition parties’ unity meeting here at a private hotel, about 26 parties pledged their support to stand united and fight the BJP in the upcoming 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
AICC president Mallikarjun Kharge told the gathering that the new coalition of parties will be renamed as INDIA and the fight is not just between the Opposition and the Centre but between the “idea of India and the idea of BJP.”
Prominent leaders who attended the meeting included Congress leaders Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi, West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee, Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal, NCP patron Sharad Pawar, Bihar CM Nitish Kumar among others.
During the meeting, several leaders took a dig at Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his contribution in the last nine years.
Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal observed that while PM Modi could have done a lot, he has destroyed many sectors. “We have gathered here not for ourselves but to save the country from hatred.” He further said that the economy is in shambles and there is so much unemployment in the country. It is time, the people want him (Modi) to go, he said.
Speaking to the media after the meeting, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi observed that the BJP ideology is attacking the idea of India.
