NEP has RSS influence, rural, backward classes students won’t get any benefits, alleges Dr H C Mahadevappa

Mysuru: Former minister Dr H C Mahadevappa on Friday described National Education Policy (NEP) being introduced in the country as a copy of American education system.
He was speaking during an interaction on NEP organised by University of Mysore Researchers Association at B M Sri Hall in the city.
Mahadevappa said “The policy was not formulated by any expert. It is influenced by Rashtriya Swayamseva Sangha (RSS). It is a policy to deprive the rural and backward classes from reaping the benefits of higher education. As it is a copy of American education system, no attempts have been made to pore over the previous systems in India.”
Though education should insist on building an egalitarian society, no States were taken into confidence before drafting the policy. It was not even discussed in the State cabinet, before implementing it. What’s grave is the hasty manner in which the NEP is being implemented to build a Hindu nation, dashing the ethos of the Constitution Of India. It has an ulterior motive of destroying the principles of social justice propagated by Dr B R Ambedkar and shaking the existence of the Universities.
Education expert Sripad Bhat said “There is no reference to Constituion in NEP. Moreover, there is no evaluation of the limitation of the policies that were in existence earlier. It is also bereft of children’s rights. Most importantly it is not on par with global education system.”
When over two lakh objections and opinions related to the policy is ignored, how can it echo the principles of the Constitution? wondered Bhat.
The benefits of education policies are always reaped by upper castes which find jobs in IT-BTsectors and also abroad. While the trend of oppressed classes drifting away from education and finding jobs elsewhere will continue. Any student from backward classes with hopes of finding a niche career as a scientist will be lured to quit in the middle.
It shows RSS is against the development of oppressed classes, as it is always in favour of Manuvada. It is the common intention of both State and Central governments to cement Manuvada in the society through NEP, alleged Bhat.
Dr Shivakumar of Akka IAS Academy, APMC Director Jawaraiah and UoM Researchers Association President Mahesh Sosale were present.
