Nayakas protest demanding withdrawal of police case

Mysuru: Members of nayaka community in large numbers have staged a protest on October 25 near Deputy Commissioner’s office in the city.
The protesters alleged false cases have been booked against people of the community who are arrested for violence during a procession organised as part of Valmiki jayanti in Nanjangud town recently.
The rallyists were also lathi charged. The police have arrested 32 people on the charges of rioting and damage to public properties in the rally. All these cases should be withdrawn.
The protest was staged under the leadership of former ZP member and ex- chairman of Valmiki Development Board S C Basavaraju, Karnataka Rajya Nayakara Yuva Sene president Devaraj Katur and Nayaka hitarakshana vedike president Dyavappa Nayaka.
