Haveri: The mortal remains of medical student Naveen Shekarappa Gyanagowdar has been brought to his native Chalageri in Ranebennur taluk in the district on Monday.

Naveen who was pursuing medicine at Kharkiv in Ukraine, was killed during the shelling at ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine on March 1.

After continuous efforts, the mortal remains was brought back to the country 20 days after he met his tragic end.

As his mortal remains reached home, the parents and brother couldn’t control their emotion.

The grief stricken family members were inconsolable as they were waiting to have one last glimpse of Naveen for all these days.

They performed rituals connected to last rites as per Veerashaiva- Lingayat tradition.

Apart from the relatives, the villagers have also gathered in large numbers to pay their last respects to Naveen.
