Navaratri at Palace begins with private durbar of Yaduveer

Mysuru: While the government sponsored Nada Habba Mysuru Dasara unfolded at Chamundi Hill, it began with pomp and gaiety at Palace with the khasgi durbar (Private durbar) of Wadiyars the erstwhile royal family of Mysuru.

Scion of erstwhile royal family Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar, the 27th titular king of Yadu dynasty led Dasara rituals for the sixth year. Yaduveer adorned the throne, the custom in practice till the culmination of Navaratri.

On Saturday morning, the rituals began with the fixing of idol of lion to Golden Throne between the auspicious 6-15 am and 6-30 am. Later Kankana Dharane was performed between 7:15 am and 8:15 am. 
A special puja was aoffered to royal cow, horse and elephant. Vikrama is performing the role of Pattada elephant and Gopi as Nishane elephant.
The caparisoned Vikrama elephant carries idols from Kodi Someshwara Temple and reached the Palace for Navaratri festival. 
Artistes decorated the elephants with royal emblem Gandabherunda.
With Covid-19 crises yet to be over, the rituals at Palace are also scaled down, with the royal family extending the invite to a limited number of dignitaries.
