Name Mysuru Airport after Jayachamaraja Wadiyar, urges Sudhakar Shetty

Mysuru: S Sudhakar Shetty a former chairman of Federation of Karnataka Chamber Of Commerce and Industries (FKCCI) has urged Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa to name Mysuru Airport in Mandakalli after the erstwhile Maharaja of Mysuru Jayachamaraja Wadiyar.

The Maharaja was a link between not just the royalty that ceases to exist, but also the democracy. He was the first monarch in the entire country to sign the instrument of accession when India became independent in 1947, said Shetty also the chairman of Jnanasarovara International Residential School, Mysuru.

As a Raja Pramukh and Governor of then Mysore State, he rendered his valuable service from 1950 to 1956. The maharaja’s contribution towards the field of art, especially music and also sports is immense.

The Maharaja had the rare credit of being conferred with honorary doctorates from universities like- University of Mysore, Baneras Hindu University, Uttar Pradesh, Annamalai University, Tamil Nadu and Queensland University in Australia.
