NAAC peer committee visits JSS College

Mysuru:  National assessment and accreditation committee ( NAAC) has visited JSS College of Arts, Commerce and Science, Ooty road in the city on August 23.

The peer committee was led by Dr Siba Prasad Adhikary, former vice- chancellor, from Bhubaneshwar in Odisha.

The visiting panel assessed seven points, that included curriculum, teaching, learning, evaluation, research, innovation, extension, infrastructure, learning resources, student support, progression, governance, leadership, management, institutional values and best practices.

They also assessed facilities provided for the students covering kaushal kendra, community college scheme, extra curricular activities, library, laboratories, language lab, counselling centre, anti-sexual harassment cell, anti- ragging cell, reading room, playground, auditorium, placement support, drinking water, ladies hostel, multi gym, canteen and other basic amenities.

The panellists interacted with heads of the departments, students, alumni and parents.

Cultural programmes depicting culture and ethnic values was staged in the evening.

The panel included, member coordinator Dr Shrawan K Sharma, Department of English, Haridwar, Uttarakhand and member Dr Kumaraswamy Ramamurthi, Principal, Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu.

Prof B V Sambashivaiah, chief executive of the college, Principal Prof M Mahadevappa and Prof D S Sadashivamurthy were present during the visit.
