Mysuru ready for Dasara 2024; Dr Hampana to inaugurate Navarathri festivities

Mysuru: The inauguration of Mysuru Dasara 2024 is scheduled on October 3, atop Chamundi Hills. Veteran scholar Dr. Hampa Nagarajaiah, popular as Hampana, will inaugurate the ceremony, in the presence of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and several other dignitaries.
Deputy Commissioner G. Lakshmikanth Reddy oversaw the final preparations for the inauguration of Dasara, on the eve of the ceremony at Chamundi Hills on Wednesday.

Deputy Commissioner Lakshmikanth Reddy, Additional DC Dr. P. Shivaraju, Secretary of Sri Chamundeshwari Temple Development Authority, M J Roopa, Zilla Panchayat CEO K M Gayathri and other officials inspected the Chamundi Hills and Sri Chamundeshwari Temple premises to ensure everything is in place for the inauguration of historic Nada Habba Mysuru Dasara festival.
The officials along with main priest of. Chamundeshwari temple Shashishekar Dixit, inspected the main dais adjacent to the temple, where the idol of Goddess Chamundeshwari will be installed in a silver chariot, for the inauguration of Dasara festival.

The inauguration is scheduled between 9.15 AM and 9.45 AM during the auspicious Vrushchika Lagna. As a prelude to the opening ceremony, prayers will be offered to the Goddess, besides paying floral tributes to the presiding deity, joined by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar.
Following the ceremony atop Chamundi Hills, a series of cultural and entertainment programmes will also unfold, including the Dasara Film Festival at KSOU Convocation Hall, Food Mela, Book Exhibition, Flower Show at Kuppanna Park, Dasara Sports Meet CM Cup at Chamundi Vihar Stadium, Nazarbad and Wrestling tournaments at D Devaraj Urs Multipurpose Stadium, Dasara Exhibition and cultural programmes at Mysuru Palace.
The inauguration of cultural programmes will also feature the presentation of the State Sangeeth Vidwan Award and the illumination oof prominent roads, circles, junctions in the city.
The illuminated Hasiru Mantapa, the green pandal at the intersection of old CAVA building and Sayyajirao road, is the prominent attraction.
