Mysuru police open ‘One Stop Service Centre’ for women

Mysuru: One Stop Service Centre to enable women in distress under one roof has been opened by the city police.

The centre set up at Women’s police station at Lashkar police station building was inaugurated by Police Commissioner Dr Chandragupta on Wednesday.

The centre with five rooms has all the basic amenities like counselling room, first aid, legal aid and temporary shelter for the women who knock on the doors of police station.

This follows the government order issued in October 2018 for the benefit of women.

In case of any crimes women to go the nearby stations to lodge complaint. She will be later referred to Women’s police. In case of domestic issues, the case will be referred to counselling. In case of physical assault she has to be taken to hospital for medical check up. If a woman is deserted by the family, she along with her kids has to take shelter at police station and seek counselling for solace.

Hence to provide all these facilities, five rooms at Women’s police station have been renovated and equipped with computers and furniture.¬†

DCP (Law and order) Geetha Prasanna, ACP (Devaraja sub-division) Shashidhar and Women’s police Inspector Mamatha V D were present.
