Mysuru Magi Festival to be back? Dist admin writes to authorities

Mysuru: Magi Festival that coincides with the ushering in of new year in Mysuru is expected to be back in celebration after a gap of two years.

Deputy Commissioner Dr K V Rajendra told media persons “we have sent a letter to the department of tourism and Department of Kannada and Culture to facilitate to organise Magi festival in Mysuru to boost tourism in the year end”.

The then Deputy Commissioner C Shikha conceptualised Mysore Magi festival or winter festival in 2017 to enable tourism as a continuum after Dasara celebrations. It was mainly intended to attract tousirts to the top tourist destinations in Mysuru, with a melange of events.

However, the festival had been stopped in the last two years owing to Covid-19 restrictions.

It is usually held in the last week of December stretching up to the dawn of new year.
