Mysuru- Kodagu Lok Sabha seat: Brahmins want former IPS Officer Bhaskar Rao as BJP candidate

Mysuru: Former IPS Officer N Bhaskar Rao, also the Vice-president of Akhila Karnataka Brahmana Mahasabha expressed his intense desire to serve the nation under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi a world leader.

Rao who had also served as Police Commissioner in Mysuru during his vast 34 years service in Police Department, spoke about his political intentions and sought the support of Brahmin community who constitute 2.6 lakh votes in Mysuru- Kodagu Lok Sabha constituency.

Rao who recently joined BJP, was earlier associated with Aam Aadmi Party (AAP).

Mysuru Vipra Balaga, Chamundipuram had organised an interaction meeting ‘Vipra Sangama- 2024, A talk on Lok Sabha  elections- 2024’ at Aradhya Mahasabha, on JLB road in the city on Saturday.

Like Jains and Sikhs who go to any extent for the sake of their communities, Brahmins should also display similar commitment, said Rao in his appeal to his community men.

“I am a native of Kalale in Nanjangud taluk, Mysuru district, where I was born. My ancestors belong to Mysuru and my grandfather was in the horse cavalry of Mysore Lancers and had also gone to Israel during World War 1”, said Rao recalling his roots.

Lauding Mysureans who are known for their belligerent attitude, Rao claimed that during his stint in Police Department when he had served in various capacities in Mysuru, he had maintained law and order without giving room for bloodshed. I have entered politics and here too I promise not to err as I am afraid of doing any mistakes. If given an opportunity I will retain the faith you have in me, he said.

In the interaction held earlier, Vipra community leaders raised the demand for BJP ticket to Brahmin candidate Bhaskar Rao in the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections. There are 2.6 lakh brahmin voters, but the community has not got its due even once in the Lok Sabha polls.

A booklet titled ‘Nimma Bhaskar Rao’ was also distributed at the meeting.

Vipra leaders Keshavamurthy also a Vishwa Hindu Parishat (VHP) leader, Parthasarathy, Raveendra and others were present.
