Mysuru: At a time when money has turned into an elixir of life, with savings assuming more significance at the time of Covid-19 pandemic, a businessman from the city here has helped a daily wager in far away Tamil Nadu.

How it happened makes for an intriguing story, that can be well adapted into a potboiler.

Harshvardhan Gowda of Gokulam, Mysuru had deposited Rs 20,000 online in a bank account of a person known to him, on April 21. However, after sometime he learnt to have transferred the amount to a different account. He had to sent to account number- 1173110010050699, but had deposited in the account number 1183110010050699 by mistake.

Upon enquiry, it came through the bank that the latter bank account belongs to one S V Rachappa at Krishnagiri in Tamil Nadu. After collecting Rachappa’s cell number, Gowda contacted him. Rachappa turned out to be a native of Shivamogga, whose job had taken him to neighbouring State.

Interestingly, Rachappa was not aware about the blunder, till Gowda told him.

Later Gowda sent one of his friends Santosh to Krishnagiri to meet Rachappa. Rachappa hands over his ATM card to withdraw the money from his account, to Santosh. Santosh even withdraws the amount.

Meanwhile, Gowda learns from Santosh about the pathetic condition of Rachappa’s family who will be in abject poverty. With no job in hand did to lockdown, the family is in dire straits.¬† The couple have a specially-abled child to take care of.

Deeply moved, Gowda tells his friend to return back the money as a gesture of help.

Taken aback, joy knew no bounds for Rachappa who wholeheartedly thanked the good samaritans Gowda and his friend.

For Gowda, it was the satisfaction of helping a right person at a right moment.
