Mysuru: The spread of Noval Coronavirus has brought all the attention on hand sanitisers like never before. Hand sanitisers are being sold like hot cakes in medical and grocery stores, in some areas, people are hoarding it, causing huge scarcity.

Majority of the medical stores have put up ‘No hand sanitiser’ board already. In the wake of Corona scare, hand sanitisers help in great deal in fighting virus, especially while travelling.

So much was the demand that some of the medical stores were reported to be selling hand sanitiser at exorbitant rates. Action has been initiated against such stores by the drug controller, recently.

However, this has turned advantage for the Karnataka Soaps and Detergents Limited (KSDL) whose handwash products – which suffered the competition in the market – are now great in demand. These hand wash products are now available in the market and at the Mysore Sandal retail outlets in Mysuru.

As per the data, due to Corona scare, there has been at least 50 per cent demand in handwash. Mysore Sandals produces handwashes in six varieties – Mango, Rose, Herbal,  Strawberry, Pineapple and Tulsi. For a pack of 250 ml, it costs Rs 65. This has helped the staggering company to bounce back, said sources.

Krishan Kumar a resident of Srirampura told Mysoorunews.com that regular handwash is enough to prevent infections. He swears by the Mysore Sandals handwash and his favourite is Tulsi variety.

Mysore Sandal Soap factory was established in 1916 and was later merged with Karnataka Soaps and detergents Limited (KSDL). Annually, Mysore sandal soap factory manufactures 26,000 tonnes of soap.
