Mysuru: Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai on Monday sang paeans of WadIyars the erstwhile rulers of Mysuru for their farsightedness.

“Apart from manufacturing the products relevant in those period, the Mysore Lac and Paints (previous name of MPVL), started manufacturing indelible ink, that is still in demand not just in the State, but also across the country”.

Be it in the field of education, agriculture and Industries, the Wadiyars contribution is enormous. It is precisely why the Mysuru region is academically forward in the State, lauded CM.

Referring to many such public firms started by Wadiyars like iron and steel industries, paper factory among others, CM said “efforts are being made to infuse a new lease of life to them. Unlike earlier days, the public firms are facing a stiff competition from private parties and MPVL is no exception. Hence it calls for adapting to technology and upgradation suiting the changing times. The State Government is committed to render all possible assistance in this regard.

Like the Wadiyar kings, even Maharanis have contributed to the development of the State. Vani Vilas Sagar in Chitradurga that has reached its brim after a gap of 90 years, is one such contribution of Vani Vilasa Sannidhana (Maharani Kempajammanni the mother of Nalwadi Krishnaraja Wadiyar). I had the privilege of offering bagina to the river. Plans have been made to install the busts of the late Maharani and the king. Both the incumbent Maharani Pramoda Devi Wadiyar of erstwhile royal family and the Maharaja will be invited to the unveiling ceremony, said CM.

Like KRS dam in Mysuru region, Vani Vilas Sagar is for central Karnataka, added CM.
