Mysuru: Music patron K V Murthy passed away due to age related illness on Thursday. He was 90.
According to sources close to family, Murthy breathed his last at his house on second cross, Kalidasa road, Jayalakshmipuramin at early hours of the day. A retired civil engineer, Murthy was involved in port works at Chennai and Vishakapatnam.
After retirement, Murthy settled in Mysuru and was involved in agro chemical and coffee industry. It was his love for music, that made him very popular among the art cognoscenti in the city. He had served as the president of Vasundhara Centre For Performing Arts, Nadabrahma Sangeeth Sabha, JSS Sangeeth Sabha, Tyagaraja Sangeeth Sabha and several other music organisations.
The last rites were performed at Chirashanthidhama, Gokulam in the city.
He is survived by three daughters.
