Murugha seer sent to judicial custody; prisoner-2261
1 min readChitradurga: Murugha Mutt Seer Dr Sri Shivamurthy Murugha Sharana who was arrested by the police in POCSO case on Thursday has been remanded to 14 days judicial custody. The seer who is currently lodged in Chitradurga central prisons is given the undertrial prisoner number- 2261.
The seer who was produced before the judge at the latter’s house on Thursday close to midnight hours, was remanded to judicial custody.
The seer will be produced before the judge in the court 10 AM onwards. The police have made elaborate security arrangements on the road leading to the court from the prison.
It may be mentioned that the seer is accused of sexually harassing two minor girls at the hostel run by the Mutt.
Acting on the complaint lodged by an officer attached to district child protection office of Mysuru at Nazarbad police station, the police had filed a FIR on August 26.
The seer is the prime accused, while hostel warden Rashmi is the second accused, junior pontiff Basavaditya Devaru third accused, secretary of the Mutt Paramashivaiah fourth and advocate Gangadharaiah fifth accused.
As one of the victims is a dalit, the seer has been also booked under SC, ST (Prevention of Atrocity) Act.
