Murder attempt! Woman succumbs at hospital, CDPO hubby absconding still

Mysuru: A homemaker who was battling for life after the alleged murder attempt, succumbed at the hospital on Monday.

Nagaveni alias Mani had been admitted to Suyog Hospital in Ramakrishna Nagar, after she was found hanging at her home in Somanatha Nagar on the outskirts on March 3.

She had been on ventilator support since then, but she did not respond to treatment.

According to Mani’s father Thimmaiah “his daughter was beaten black and blue by her husband Venkatappa and hung her with the ulterior motive of killing her. Venkatappa is a child development planning officer (CDPO) at T Narsipur”.

According to Thimmaiah, Venkatappa was harassing Mani for the last two to three months without any reasons. When Thimmaiah and his wife to went to their daughter’s house to enquire about that, Venkatappa had abused them.

Recently on March 2, Mani had complained to her father about the harassment and murder threat issued by her husband.

Following the complaint, Jayapura have filed attempt to murder case against Venkatappa, besides harassment. However, Venkatappa is on the run since then.

Mani leaves behind her two children, parents, brother Manjunath T Bhovi of Vijayavani Kannada daily and a large number of relatives.

The last rites will be conducted at Nidaghatta in Maddur taluk, Mandya today.
