Mudit Mittal takes charge as Divisional Railway Manager, SWR, Mysuru division

Mysuru: Mudit Mittal, a senior officer of the Indian Railways Accounts Service has assumed charge as the Divisional Railway Manager of Mysuru Division, South Western Railway (SWR), on Monday. He takes over from  Shilpi Agarwal.

Mittal belongs to the 1996 examination batch of IRAS. He is an Electronics and Communications Engineer from the prestigious Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Roorkee, and holds a Master’s degree in Public Administration from the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy, National University of Singapore.

In a rich and diverse career spanning several key assignments, Mittal has served in various capacities across the country including Hubli, Mumbai, Bhopal, Jabalpur, Kolkata, Gorakhpur, and New Delhi.

Prior to taking over as DRM, Mysuru, he served as Executive Director (Finance) at Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL), the infrastructure arm of the Ministry of Railways.

Besides his core expertise in Finance and Accounts, he has also held important administrative roles such as Chief Public Relations Officer of West Central Railway and Director in the Seventh Central Pay Commission. His contributions in rationalizing allowances and shaping the final report of the Pay Commission were widely acknowledged.

Mudit Mittal is known for his dynamic leadership, multi-disciplinary approach, and innovative thinking. A keen sports enthusiast and avid puzzle and crossword solver, he brings with him a blend of analytical acumen and people-oriented administration.

The officers and staff of Mysuru Division extended a warm welcome to Shri Mudit Mittal and expressed confidence that the division will continue to scale new heights under his leadership.

During the handing-over, the division also acknowledged the exemplary service of the outgoing Divisional Railway Manager, Smt. Shilpi Agarwal. Under her leadership, Mysuru Division witnessed the successful completion of several key infrastructure and public-oriented projects. Notable among these were the development of Ashokapuram station, yard remodeling works at multiple stations across the division, significant progress in station redevelopment initiatives, and a strong emphasis on staff welfare measures. Her tenure was marked by a people-centric approach, operational efficiency, and visible improvements in passenger safety and amenities.
