MP Pratap Simha reviews land acquisition for Mysuru airport runway expansion

Mysuru: Member of Parliament for Mysuru-Kodagu Pratap Simha reviewed land acquisition process for airport runway expansion at the airport advisory committee meeting, held here recently.

He advised the concerned agencies to take time-bound actions to complete land acquisition procedures in time.

At the meeting, Deputy Commissioner Dr K V Rajendra suggested coordinated actions by all departments for a speedy action. Priyadarshini, SLAO of KIADB, the nodal agency for land acquisition, informed the committee that utilisation certificate of Rs 150 crore has already been submitted to the State Government and is awaiting the approval of the third installment of Rs 91 crore for further land acquisition procedures. Final notification of land acquisition for 46 acres is also in progress, informed the officer.

Currently, the airport caters to around 350 passengers daily from the airport. The airport presently offers direct connectivity to cities – Chennai, Goa and Hyderabad. The flights presently operating at Mysuru Airport have an occupancy greater than 80 per cent which is a reflection of the potential of the airport.

Former minister and MLA GT Devegowda, who is also a member of the committee attended the meeting. Besides, six advisory committee members from industry, trade, travel, social and political fields attended the meeting and raised the need for more scheduled flight operations at Mysuru airport.
