Bengaluru: MLC Arun Shahapur has submitted a memorandum to Chief Secretary to the State Government T M Vijayabhaskar to revoke the decision of the outgoing government, by nominating members to the syndicates of various universities in the State.
Shahapur in his memorandum to the chief secretary has alleged that corrupt practices behind the hastiness at which the nominations were made is being heard in the academic circle. Hence the universities should be directed not to notify the nominations.
The decision was taken by the government which lacked majority. It was also decided at the time when the Governor had issued definite instructions to the government to not to take any important decisions related to recruitment and nominations at this juncture.
The Governor’s assent is still pending over the newly formed University Act that was approved by both upper and lower houses of the State legislature, Shahapur has explained in detail in his requusition to the chief secretary.
