MLA Tanveer Sait seeks streetlights that are energy efficient

Mysuru: Narasimharaja Constituency Member of Legislative Assembly Tanveer Sait has expressed his concerns on streetlights that are energy consuming in the City.
In a letter written to District In-charge Minister Dr H C Mahadevappa, the legislator has pointed out that at several stretches, streetlights have not been changed to energy-efficient bulbs thus consuming a lot of energy.
According to his letter, there are 81,000 street lights in Mysuru City, of which only 72,984 have been changed to energy-efficient lights or LED bulbs. The remaining 8,016 are still using traditional mercury bulbs, which becomes a burden during the night and it may consume a lot of energy, especially when Dasara is approaching. He urged the Mysuru City Corporation officials to address the issue.
Responding to his letter, the district Minister has promised to provide additional funds to replace street lights with energy efficient bulbs. He further asked the municipal directorate to release the funds to address the issue.
