Bengaluru: Legislator Tanveer Sait has appealed to the Home Minister Dr G Parmeshwar to withdraw cases against those arrested in DJ Halli, KG Halli, Shivamogga and Hubballi riots reasoning that there were many innocent youths and students who have been detained.
Responding to the letter, Home Minister Parameshwar has written to Chief Secretary to look into the legislator’s request and review the case and take suitabe action.
After Minister Parameshar’s letter went viral, BJP MLA Basanagowda Patil Yatnal has accused the Congress government of adopting appeasement policy. Patil tweeted that “DJ Halli and KJ Halli riots were one of the worst riots that the State witnessed. The accused had torched a police station and attacked the police too. Earlier, the same Congress government had withdrawn cases against PFI goondas and now they want to withdraw cases against those accused in the riots.” This is an appeasement politics, he added.
