MLA Srivatsa wants CM to look into long-pending Runway project and Dasara Authority in Mysuru

2 min read

Mysuru: Mysuru BJP MLA T S Srivatsa appealed to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to extend additional grant to Krishna Raja Hospital, as it will complete centenary years next year and to develop it into a model hospital in the State.

Endearingly called as ‘Dodda Aspathre’ in colloquial terms, the K R Hospital serves patients from all over the district. The hospital will turn 100 next year.

Legislator Srivatsa made this fervent appeal to the chief minister during the discussion hour in the Assembly. Taking cue from several announcements made in the budget for Mysuru, the legislator urged the chief minister to expedite work on the proposal to set up Film City in Varuna Assembly constituency. He was of the opinion that the proposed Film City would boost tourism potentiality further in the City and hence requested more funds for the project.

He pointed out that there has been no mention of Runway at the Mysuru Airport for which the previous government had earmarked Rs 175 cr. With no mention about the funds for the runway in the budget, he feared that the project would be pushed to the backburner, further hampering the air connectivity to the heritage city. He urged the chief minister to take up runway work without wasting anytime on this.

He drew the government’s attention to various heritage buildings that need a touch of renovation without affecting its heritage significance. They include Lansdown building, Devaraja Market, Vani Vilasa Market and MG Road Market.

With regard to developing Exhibition Grounds on the lines of Pragathi Maidan, the legislator pointed out that although the government has announced the project, no grant has been provided for the same. He urged the chief minister to look into this. Thanking the government to propose to set up Chamundi Development Authority, the legislator was of the opinion that the government must focus on setting up Dasara Authority, which has been a long-pending demand of the people of Mysuru. “I am disappointed that there has been no mention of this in the budget,” he told the session.

He also appealed to the chief minister to set up a government engineering college in Mysuru as majority of the colleges are private in Mysuru and they are far from affordable to students from poor families.
