The minister who paid an early morning visit to APMC in the town, also interacted with the farmers in the market.

The minister said “I have been visiting APMCs only to ensure that the farmers should sell their produce without any hiccup. I am also collecting information on whether they are facing any hurdles while selling their products and at the hands of police at the checkpost while transporting the goods to the market. They don’t have any such complaints”.

The farmers are permitted to sell their produce at APMC from 3 am to 1 pm. According to the farmers here, they are unable to sell capsicum, lemon. When there was a similar issue related to leaves and tomato, we brought it to the notice of local MLAs and made arrangements to buy them and distribute for free in their respective constituencies, said Somashekar.

The masks and sanitisers are put to use in a better way at the APMC here. Besides, arrangements are made through public address system to create awareness among the people to maintain social distance.

If the farmers are finding it difficult to sell the yield and incurring losses, it should be brought to notice and measures will be taken to provide relief towards crop loss, reiterated Somashekar.

The chief minister has convened a cabinet meeting on Monday to discuss about relaxing lockdown, said Somashekar.
