Minister Somanna’s supporters urge BJP seniors to recognize his efforts

2 min read

Mysuru: Following rumours that Minister for Infrastructure Development and Chamarajanagar District incharge, V Somanna was upset with the party and may join Congress, his followers held a meeting here on Thursday to pressurize the BJP heads to recognize his efforts in strengthening the party and reward him, accordingly.

Minister Somanna’s supporters led by realtor S M Shivaprakash convened a meeting at Nithyananda convention centre at Vishweshwaraiah Industrial Suburb in the city.

The followers stated that their leader Somanna, a prominent Veerashaiva- Lingayat leader, has been striving for the party for over a decade and he was also responsible among others to strengthen the party in Karnataka and even in Old Mysuru region.

They conveyed to the party seniors to recognize his efforts and contributions to the party and award him a suitable position in the party.

They also conveyed to him not to leave the BJP.

BJP leader Mallesh said that even though Minister Somanna deserves to be a chief minister, the party has not considered him so far.

When senior leader former Chief Minister B  S Yediyurappa stepped down as chief minister, Minister Somanna had an opportunity to succeed the former, but he did not take up making way for others.

It may be recalled that, Somanna though Chamarajanagar district incharge Minister, skipped the launch of BJP Jana Sankalpa Yatra, by party National President J P Nadda at M M Hills recently.

Moreover, former minister K S Eshwarappa was made incharge of the Yatra in Chamarajanagar, that has left Somanna sulking.

Since then, rumours are rife that Somanna is looking towards returning to Congress party, with which he was associated earlier, before switching over to BJP fold in 2009, when Yediyurappa was the Chief Minister for the second term.
